Looking over the Flex offerings for August 2018 SDCCD faculty, we offer the follow suggestions:
The first one is organized by one of our SDAFA (San Diego Adjunct Faculty Association) members. . What happens if we are 65 or older and don’t have any medical benefits now, or lose the ones we have because our classes get cancelled?

AFT Guild is offering “AFT Forums on Contract Proposal” sessions as follow

Please go and ask questions. For example, to prevent discrimination against Adjuncts, can we specify that any rules are not to be more strongly enforced for an Adjunct than they are for Contract Faculty in the same Department and / or School such as turning in grades late?

Next suggestion: Go to any meetings your School and Departments are holding. This is a good way for them, the people that assign classes, to put a face to your name. It also helps you find out things they don’t tell us in emails.
Last suggestion: Each college has a gathering for all Adjuncts and another one that is called a Convocation that is open to both Contract and Adjuncts. If you have never been to either, please go to one or the other. If you have time, go to both just to see what is told to one group and not the other. The daytime one is longer, so there is more time to cover more information.

Finally, CE has a different Flex Schedule than the rest of the District. CE Faculty, both Contract and Adjunct, are welcome at our non-CE Flex events but they cannot get Flex credit. We tried to work something out but the answer was no.
