Employment Tips from ASCCC Part Time Leadership Conference August 2018
From the recollections of Carlynne Allbee
During the August 2018 Academic Senate for the Community Colleges of California, a reoccurring theme in General Sessions and Break-Out Sessions was Employment, i.e. how an Adjunct can get a full time job at a Community College. While much of this was repeated, I will organize it the way it makes sense to me. There are four main areas connected with this subject. This is part 1 of 4
1) Where do you find out about the jobs? Logically your own Community College Districts or ones that are near you. However, there are also websites that list jobs at the Community Colleges.
a) CCC Registry: California Community College Registry. The email address from them will be @yosemite.edu www.cccregistry.org is their website where you will do your search. The7 also have a Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/CCCRegistry
b) EdJoin: You can search by job or Region. I search by Region and then my County, San Diego. Once you get to that page, it will list all the school districts in your area. www.edjoin.org They also have a Facebook page.
c) IF you have ever applied for unemployment, you have heard about CalJobs. Don’t overlook them in your job search. www.caljobs.ca.gov
d) Someone told me in the past that they found their full time job by searching on Chronicle of Higher Ed. www.chronicle.com
e) If you have more suggestions, send them to me please. CarlynneAllbee@yahoo.com
f) Keep in mind that the majority of jobs openings will be listed December through March for start date of the fall semester.
