What a wall-to-wall union must maintain to gently extract the surplus labor of adjuncts and funnel it to administrators to buy perks for full-timers at the negotiating table, while shedding crocodile tears for the plight of their downtrodden colleagues; see also Slowly Boiling a Frog.
